Wood-plastic composites (WPC) are a new type of composite material that has grown rapidly worldwide in recent years. It uses polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc., to replace conventional resin adhesives, blended with 35%–70% waste plant fibers such as wood powder, rice husks and straw to form a new wood-like material. The mixture is then processed through plastic forming technologies including extrusion, compression molding and injection molding to produce boards or profiles.

It is currently widely applied in construction, furniture, logistics packaging and other industries. Boards manufactured by hot extrusion of plastic mixed with wood flour at a certain ratio are known as extruded WPC composite boards.
